The Georgia Declaration of Cannabis Re-Legalization

What if I told you there hasn’t been a marijuana legalization movement in Georgia since 2012?

I’m sure many of you would start thinking about the cannabis organizations scattered about in Georgia. Of course you would be right; there are many cannabis organizations in our state but splinter groups and newly formed organizations do not create a movement. Why? Because they have no  mission statement to rally around in unity.

Back in the day, from the 60’s up to the late 90’s the cannabis community rallied around a single mission statement; end the arrest and incarceration of cannabis users. Then the low THC Oil medical marijuana outcry began and the idea that cannabis was good for some purposes but not all caused a great divide in movement, polarizing our community. From that day forward, at least in Georgia, there has been no one mission statement to bring advocates and activists together again.

But that’s about to change. I sent out a call for action for other groups and individuals to draft a mission statement solitictt and they lack one common ground . We’ve had plenty of Cannabis activists and advocates were fractured groupsMany of us still refer to the activities of advocates and activists to push this issue forwardhis committee is tasked with the responsibility of crafting a manifest by which Georgia Cannabis Activist, Advocates, and Lobbyists will refer to when discussing our legislative demands. Every signature on this document is a declaration of sponsorship.
This will be copied and delivered to each member of the legislative body with all the signatures we collect within the cannabis community.
It will be used it as a training manual for those who attend our organizational work shops so they will have a clear and definite understanding of just what we mean when we say legalization and what our demands in Georgia are.
The document will be complete with references to back up our demands and in rebuttal of their opposing claims.
We will aim to show the unity we have established with organizations, businesses, politicians, and individuals who believe now is the time to pass legislation under Georgia’s gold dome and allow the state to proceed.
We will not be discussing baby steps again. We’re demanding full legalization of cannabis marijuana in the state of Georgia.
I believe that most of you are as serious as we are at the Georgia Cannabis Industry Alliance and Peachtree NORML. I hope that you support us as we embark upon this time-consuming effort to effect positive change in Georgia’s antiquated cannabis laws.
For those who are wondering what this committee meeting tonight is about.
This committee is tasked with the responsibility of crafting a manifest by which Georgia Cannabis Activist, Advocates, and Lobbyists will refer to when discussing our legislative demands. Every signature on this document is a declaration of sponsorship.

As you know, our efforts to lead this state to cannabis legalization is non-partisan. We WILL mobilize our people in the state of Georgia to get behind any bill that supports FULL LEGALIZATION of Cannabis, regardless of which party is sponsoring it.
Since we put out the word about our efforts to unite the cannabis community under one clear mission statement, ‘The Georgia Declaration of Cannabis Relegalization’, we have had many requests to discuss.
Christopher Raley, realty advisor for the GACIA and I will be having lunch with Ed tomorrow to discuss this very issue, at his request. One of those people is Ed Muldrow, the Gwinnett GOP Chair. Maybe the GOP party now realizes that to keep their Senate seats they may be forced to resort to a call for legalization in Georgia. I’d say they’re right.

The Georgia Declaration of Cannabis Relegalization starts like this:
“WE THE UNDERSIGNED Citizens of Georgia adhering and agreeing to this Declaration come from many walks of life and political persuasions, but they are united in their insistence that the legal adult use of cannabis be restored to them and their posterity, to hold and declare that the time for the re-legalization of cannabis is long past-due.
We assert without fear of contradiction the following:”
We will make public the Declaration on the GA CIA website Monday, Nov. 23. A massive Call to Action will follow and a grassroots boots-on-the-ground campaign will be promoted.
If you aren’t on our mailing list you won’t know how you can help us. So go here: now so you can learn about our amped up efforts to turn Georgia green.
In Solidarity,
Theresa
